Job Description

A well-established manufacturing company located south of Boston is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its growing team. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting operations and guiding a high-performing team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise and a strategic mindset who can drive financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, payroll, cost accounting, AP/AR, cash, and commissions
  • Oversee the preparation and timely distribution of weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports
  • Perform advanced financial analysis to assess and forecast company performance
  • present insights and scenarios to leadership
  • Develop and deliver financial reporting to support cross-functional business needs
  • Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including hiring and performance management
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll accounting and reconciliation to third-party reports
  • Support audits, financial reviews, company valuation, and external reporting requirements
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure the quality and accuracy of financial reporting
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and implement effective processes and controls
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax and reporting requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 10+ years of accounting/finance experience
  • 5+ years in a leadership role with direct supervisory responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, payroll systems, and ERP systems (ERP implementation experience required!)
