Job Description

Maple Leaf Marinas is the largest owner of premium Marinas in Canada with locations on Lake Simcoe, Lake Muskoka, Lake Joseph and Georgian Bay, Ontario. We are the leader in our Industry for providing opportunities for skilled employees in a fast-paced team environment servicing over 3,000 recreational boaters within our portfolio. We are seeking a strong, motivated individual for this role; a self-starter that enjoys a challenge. The Accounting Lead will work from our Satellite office in Mactier, ON and report to the Regional Accounting Manager.

Job Responsibility

  • Coordinate the month-end close for the marina portfolio
  • Oversee and assist with monthly account reconciliations
  • Analyze results and report on variances
  • Maintain general ledgers and chart of accounts
  • Monthly Manager reporting and ad hoc financial statements
  • Recommend enhancements to internal controls as required
  • Provide training on new policies and procedures
  • Other projects as deemed necessary
  • Travel to Marinas occasionally for support (Muskoka area)
  • Coordinate with Regional Accounting Manager for consistency across locations

Requirements

  • Post Secondary education in Accounting/Finance
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with marina managers and operational staff across locations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good time management skills, able to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to prioritize tasks as they arise
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Team player
  • High level of integrity and discretion with sensitive financial information

Nice to have

Experience with LightSpeed and Dock Master would be an asset
