The Accounting Director provides leadership and oversight for a centralized accounting function supporting a multi‑property hospitality portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving consistent accounting processes across properties. The position blends hands‑on accounting expertise with people leadership, process improvement, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Job Responsibility:
Lead, coach, and develop a centralized accounting team, providing ongoing training, performance feedback, and mentorship
Oversee the full monthly close cycle, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with established deadlines
Review cash disbursements, reconciliations, and balance sheet activity to ensure accuracy and compliance
Direct the preparation and review of financial statements and supporting schedules
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, reporting, and internal control requirements
Support and coordinate internal and external audits, including annual compliance initiatives
Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, operational leaders, and external partners
Serve as a professional representative of the accounting function in meetings with leadership and ownership groups as needed
Contribute to strategic initiatives including staffing plans, workflow optimization, and system or process enhancements
Partner with operational leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Monitor and analyze financial performance, operating costs, and trends against established goals
Provide hands‑on support to the team as needed during periods of transition, high volume, or staff absence
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise accounting systems
Demonstrated leadership, team development, and coaching ability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
Effective time management and organizational skills
Experience implementing or improving accounting processes and controls
Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments
