Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, the Accounting Coordinator is a central member of the Finance Team. This role will provide support to the Finance and Purchasing team and will also have a strong focus in accounts receivable. This full-time contract position is scheduled to run from early April 2026 to end of April 2027. The ideal candidate will have an open availability and work an average of 40 hours each week. Majority of hours take place on Mondays to Fridays from 9:00am to 5:30pm, with occasional overtime and weekend shift requirements based on business needs.
Job Responsibility:
Answer guest and credit card inquiries concerning accounts including the documentation and preparation of adjustments
Review group and catering contracts, establish understanding of billing arrangements and follow up on deposits and prepayments
Assist the Credit Manager in organization and collection of outstanding accounts and communicate promptly about any discrepancies
Review banquet checks against Catering orders for accuracy of preparation
Prepare and input month-end journal entries for general ledger processing including reconcile General Ledger accounts as assigned
Organize and compile bidding documents and reviewing the specification adhering to bidding requirements
Coordinate with different departments to ensure any purchase orders requiring bidding is properly documented
Perform any additional duties as assigned by Assistant Director of Finance
Requirements:
One year experience or related work in accounting or finance, ideally in a hospitality environment
Diploma or Degree in Finance or Accounting considered an asset
Previous experience working with OPERA PMS, BirchStreet Systems, SUN Accounting System, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), is an asset
Exceptional communication skills and command of English language
Additional language a definite asset for career growth
Possess a high level of professionalism and integrity while maintaining confidentiality
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites, BirchStreet Systems, SUN Accounting System, and OPERA PMS is preferred
High attention to detail
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Positive attitude and a can-do approach to any task
Must possess legal work authorization in Canada
