Job Description:

Robert Half Permanent Placement is partnering with an established law firm in downtown Buffalo, NY on their search for an Accounting Coordinator. This is an in-office position with a starting wage of $50,000 - $60,000 depending on experience and includes both a comprehensive benefits package and a 35-hour work week!

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the accounting team at a respected law firm by maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with financial reporting in compliance with GAAP standards
  • Prepare and post general ledger entries, reconcile accounts, and maintain supporting documentation to ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Perform manual monthly bank reconciliations for multiple high-activity accounts using Excel and bank exports
  • identifying and resolving discrepancies in cash receipts and payments
  • Generate and assist with monthly financial and management reports
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to financial records, billing, and subledger activity, collaborating with internal teams as needed
  • Maintain organized accounting records including fixed asset tracking, 1099 year-end reporting, and supporting documentation for audits and annual filings
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows, while assisting with cross-training and supporting day-to-day accounting operations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 3+ years of experience in accounting
  • Hands-on experience with Aderant or similar legal accounting software strongly preferred
  • Ability to learn and utilize subledger-to-ledger accounting systems, supporting daily close and account balancing processes
  • Working knowledge of AP and AR functions and their impact on general ledger accounts
  • Experience supporting client billing activities and resolving related account discrepancies
  • Willing to work at a professional law firm setting with business attire
