We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team. In this long-term contract role, you will play a key part in supporting local government operations by handling tax payments and providing excellent customer service. This position is ideal for candidates with accounting knowledge or prior experience in municipal settings.
Job Responsibility:
Process and record tax payments, including cash and credit card transactions, with accuracy
Handle inquiries from customers regarding personal property and real estate taxes
Ensure timely and efficient data entry of payment information into the system
Communicate effectively with customers to provide assistance and resolve payment-related issues
Maintain organized records of invoices and transactions for reporting purposes
Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with municipal accounting standards
Assist in preparing documentation for audits and financial reviews
Stay updated on local tax regulations to provide accurate information to customers
Identify and escalate discrepancies or issues in payment processing
Support other administrative tasks as needed within the department
Requirements:
Familiarity with handling cash and credit card payments
Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and addressing concerns
Basic knowledge of personal property and real estate tax procedures
Prior experience working in a municipal or government setting is preferred
Proficiency in using accounting software and systems
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial transactions
