We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team in Dayton, Ohio. In this contract position, you will provide vital support to the finance department by performing a range of clerical and accounting tasks. This role is essential in ensuring accurate financial recordkeeping and compliance within a dynamic non-profit organization.
Job Responsibility:
Process and reconcile daily accounting transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable entries
Prepare and manage invoices, expense reports, and other financial documentation
Perform bank statement and account reconciliations, addressing discrepancies promptly
Maintain and update accounting files to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
Assist with payroll processing and related administrative tasks
Support month-end and year-end financial close procedures
Handle clerical duties such as filing, scanning, and organizing financial documents
Respond to inquiries from vendors, clients, and internal departments regarding financial matters
Provide documentation and data for audits as required
Participate in improving accounting procedures and strengthening internal controls
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
additional coursework in accounting or finance is a plus
Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles
Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical accuracy
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines
Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
Capable of handling sensitive financial information with discretion
