Job Description:

As the Accounting Clerk at Shannon Property Management, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial activities related to our high-end residential properties. You will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in property management accounting, a strong understanding of industry-specific software, and a detail-oriented approach to their work.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform day-to-day accounting tasks for a portfolio of high-end rental properties
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations
  • Conduct credit card audits, meticulously reviewing transactions to maintain accuracy and compliance
  • Perform bank reconciliations regularly to ensure consistency between financial statements and internal records
  • Conduct periodic audits to verify data integrity and identify discrepancies or irregularities
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including variance analysis and trend forecasting, to support decision-making processes
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial projections
  • Collaborate with property managers and stakeholders to provide financial insights and recommendations
  • Work with Property Managers to ensure understanding of property accounting
  • Utilize industry-specific software such as Google Sheets, Excel, Appfolio and QuickBooks to manage property accounting and financial operations
  • Ensure accurate data entry and maintain data integrity within the software systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to software functionality or data discrepancies
  • Stay updated on the latest software updates and improvements, making recommendations for system enhancements as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in property management accounting
  • Proficiency in using accounting software, preferably Appfolio and QuickBooks
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial data management
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Nice to have:

CPA certification or progress towards certification is a plus
