Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Clerk to join our team in Knoxville, Tennessee. This is a Contract position that offers the opportunity for long-term growth and development within the organization. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Controller to handle essential accounting tasks, support compliance efforts, and contribute to the smooth operation of financial processes.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist with month-end closing procedures, including preparing journal entries and reconciling key accounts
  • Handle credit card transaction reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation
  • Prepare and maintain records for sales tax and business tax compliance requirements
  • Manage property tax documents, including rendition calculations, and organize compliance-related files
  • Research historical financial data to support tax and property-related transactions
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to compile, analyze, and set up tax-related data with precision
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in accounts to ensure timely and accurate statement adjustments
  • Provide backup support for accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment coding, and posting
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory guidelines across all accounting processes
  • Perform additional financial and administrative duties as required by the Controller

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and formulas
  • Solid understanding of general accounting procedures, reconciliations, and tax compliance
  • Experience with credit card reconciliations and preparing tax-related documents is preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to research and analyze historical data effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and resolve issues
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
