Job Description

A well-established wholesale distributor of heavy equipment in Coquitlam is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join their close-knit team. This is a unique "contract-to-permanent" opportunity, allowing you to showcase your skills during a 90-day introductory period before transitioning into a long-term permanent role with the company. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys a mix of high-volume data entry and complex, manual problem-solving.

Job Responsibility

  • Handling 30-40 highly customized invoices per day, requiring precise matching of purchases with sales to maintain inventory integrity
  • Posting payables and receivables, managing billing cycles, and ensuring accurate data entry into the accounting system
  • Working closely with the sales and distribution teams to ensure complex wholesale orders are billed correctly
  • Providing administrative assistance to the senior accountant and reporting directly to the Finance Manager

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in an AP/AR or General Accounting role
  • Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 is highly preferred
  • Must be comfortable using VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables to manage and reconcile data
  • Eager to learn, asks questions, and has a high degree of attention to detail
  • Consistent on-site attendance is essential

  • Ensure proper authorization has been obtained for all hotel-specific purchasing contracts and conduct, manage and complete competitive bids in accordance with policy and ensure bids are on file where applicable prior to execution of contracts
  • Ensure Management Agreement and all other Purchasing Agreement terms and conditions are fulfilled
  • Monitor the status of slow-moving stocks and ensure a Slow-Moving Stocks Report is circulated monthly to the Director of Finance and the respective Division Heads concerned
