We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our team in Irwindale, California. This role involves managing both accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring accuracy in job cost accounting, and contributing to financial reporting processes. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience in construction accounting.
Job Responsibility:
Process a high volume of vendor invoices, including payments for subcontractors, material suppliers, and equipment rentals
Accurately code costs to specific projects and cost categories
Ensure subcontractor compliance and maintain vendor documentation, including W9 forms
Apply cash receipts and reconcile accounts receivable with the general ledger
Update weekly financial dashboards to provide accurate insights
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes for multiple entities
Maintain electronic records through Vista and SharePoint for efficient document management
Prepare accounts payable and accounts receivable reports for management review
Reconcile AP and AR subledgers with the general ledger
Handle year-end preparation and filing of 1099 forms for various entities
Requirements:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable and receivable within the construction industry
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP
Familiarity with construction accounting practices, including retainage, lien waivers, and progress billings
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in high-volume processing
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
Effective problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to tasks
Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with internal and external stakeholders
