We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. In this role, you will apply essential accounting principles to support clients across the country, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of accounting tasks while enhancing your skills.
Job Responsibility:
Perform reconciliations for bank statements, credit card transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and loans
Analyze financial reports and ensure accurate entry of accounting data into software systems
Verify accounting entries and investigate any discrepancies to maintain financial accuracy
Manage multiple clients and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks and UltraTax CS for various tasks
Code invoices and maintain organized financial records
Collaborate with team members and clients to ensure smooth financial operations
Double-check all work for accuracy and ensure thorough follow-up on tasks
Provide support for payroll and general ledger activities as needed
Communicate effectively through written and verbal channels to address client concerns and share updates
Requirements:
Knowledge of general accounting practices, including bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
At least two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably within a public accounting firm
Associate degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred but not mandatory
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Teams
Familiarity with accounting software such as Creative Solutions or QuickBooks
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple clients and tasks efficiently
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of accounting work
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
