We are looking for an experienced Accounting Assistant to join a well-established non-profit organization in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is a contract position with the potential to become a long-term part-time role, offering a flexible schedule within a collaborative and supportive work environment. The role will initially be on a contract basis with the intention to transition to a long-term part-time position.
Job Responsibility:
Record vendor invoices accurately in QuickBooks to ensure timely processing
Generate checks and wire transfers using QuickBooks for payment distribution
Post receipts into QuickBooks, keeping financial records up-to-date
Perform cash and bank reconciliations to maintain accurate account balances
Update and manage data within the member database to ensure accurate records
Conduct account reconciliations for financial accuracy and compliance
Prepare ad-hoc reports and assist with month-end closing activities as needed
Requirements:
At least 2 years of hands-on accounting experience working with QuickBooks
Proficient in Microsoft Excel with intermediate-level skills
Ability to adhere to a consistent, part-time schedule
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations
Nice to have:
Familiarity with CRM systems is a plus
