We are looking for a skilled Accounting Assistant to join our team in Gonzales, California. This contract position offers an opportunity to support financial operations within a respected educational institution. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounts receivable and general accounting functions while demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Job Responsibility:
Process daily deposits efficiently and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded
Post and reconcile journal entries in the accounting system to maintain accurate financial records
Develop and maintain spreadsheets to track accounts receivable activities and general ledger accounts
Assist with monthly and annual closing procedures, ensuring compliance with deadlines and standards
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial accounts to uphold data accuracy
Provide administrative support for accounting operations and related tasks as needed
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth financial processes and adherence to organizational guidelines
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable and general accounting functions
Proficiency in using spreadsheets, including Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
Strong skills in bank reconciliation, coding invoices, and managing journal entries
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
Familiarity with accounting software and systems
Previous experience in a school district or public sector environment is an advantage
Effective organizational and communication skills to support financial operations
