We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day financial and administrative operations for a retail organization in Dexter, Michigan. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can balance accounting tasks with front-office coordination while maintaining accuracy in a busy work environment. The role calls for strong communication skills, solid spreadsheet and word processing knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with confidence.
Job Responsibility
Process incoming invoices, prepare payment records, and help maintain accurate accounts payable documentation
Record customer payments, update account information, and support timely accounts receivable activities
Enter financial and operational data into internal records with a high level of speed and precision
Answer and route calls through a multi-line phone system while providing courteous assistance to customers and visitors
Respond to routine customer inquiries and direct issues to the appropriate team members when needed
Assist with administrative support tasks such as document preparation, file organization, and general office coordination
Review accounting information for completeness and help resolve discrepancies by communicating with internal staff or external contacts
Requirements
At least 2 years of experience in an accounting assistant, administrative accounting, or similar support role
Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, tracking, and data organization
Strong data entry skills, including accurate numeric entry in a fast-paced setting
Experience handling a multi-line phone system and interacting professionally with customers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to stay organized, manage several tasks at once, and maintain attention to detail
