We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in San Benito, Texas. In this role, you will provide essential support in accounting functions, human resources tasks, audit preparation, and file management. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
Job Responsibility:
Perform accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger
Prepare financial reports and documentation for management review and audit purposes
Collaborate with human resources staff to manage employee files, track certifications, and assist with onboarding processes
Support audit preparation by organizing financial records, ensuring compliance, and assisting with audit findings
Maintain and digitize paper-based files, ensuring accurate categorization and accessibility
Utilize accounting software to code invoices and manage financial transactions efficiently
Assist with payroll adjustments and respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies
Provide administrative support such as scheduling, correspondence, and customer service
Contribute to special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
At least 1-2 years of experience in accounting or administrative roles
Proficiency in accounting software, including QuickBooks, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively
Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
Nice to have:
Familiarity with HR and audit processes is a plus
Experience with electronic file management systems is advantageous
