We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join a finance team in Bridgewater, New Jersey within the waste, refuse, and environmental waste management industry. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a detail-focused role and can support daily accounting operations with consistency and accuracy. The position centers on processing financial transactions, assisting with payroll-related tasks, and keeping records organized to support smooth month-to-month operations.
Job Responsibility
Process invoices, payment records, and purchasing documentation with careful review for accuracy and completeness
Support both accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to help maintain timely financial transactions and account balances
Reconcile bank activity and investigate discrepancies to keep financial data aligned and up to date
Assist with commission calculations and provide payroll support by validating underlying figures and records
Maintain organized vendor files and accounting documentation to strengthen audit readiness and internal compliance
Contribute to financial reporting processes by preparing information and verifying data used by the finance team
Manage multiple accounting priorities independently while meeting deadlines in a high-volume work environment
Requirements
3+ years of practical experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or a related finance function
Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation activities
Prior involvement with commission-based payroll processing is strongly preferred
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or comparable systems
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with formulas, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, with a high level of accuracy, organization, and follow-through
