We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our Financial Reporting team. Reporting to the Financial Reporting Lead, this role supports the financial operations of the organisation, with a strong focus on payroll tax compliance alongside broader accounting and reporting responsibilities. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with detail, values accuracy, and is looking to develop their finance career within a complex, fast-paced corporate environment.
Job Responsibility:
Support end-to-end payroll tax compliance across all Australian states and territories, including monthly, quarterly and annual lodgements
Assist with payroll tax calculations, reconciliations and validation of payroll data
Maintain awareness of payroll tax legislation and jurisdictional thresholds
Support payroll tax audits and respond to queries from state revenue authorities
Assist with the development and maintenance of payroll tax processes, documentation and internal controls
Perform month-end reconciliations and assist in resolving discrepancies
Support financial analysis, reporting packs and data preparation
Assist with journals, system updates and general ledger maintenance
Support other compliance activities including BAS lodgements
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function
Work closely with Payroll, Tax and Finance teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting
Build effective working relationships across the business, including stores, DCs and support offices
Provide a high standard of internal customer service
Requirements:
Experience in an accounting or finance support role within a corporate or professional services environment
Exposure to payroll tax compliance and multi-state reporting is highly desirable
Strong understanding of accounting principles and reconciliation processes
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Confident communicator with a collaborative, proactive approach
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
