We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support daily financial operations for a client based in Chicago, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone with hands-on accounting experience who can manage transactional tasks accurately and efficiently. The role offers an opportunity to contribute across payables, receivables, and reconciliation activities while working in a fast-paced business environment.
Job Responsibility:
Process vendor invoices, verify coding details, and prepare items for timely payment
Support accounts receivable activities by recording incoming payments and following up on outstanding balances as needed
Reconcile bank statements and internal financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies
Maintain accurate accounting documentation and ensure financial data is entered correctly in QuickBooks
Assist with routine account reviews to help keep ledgers current and organized
Coordinate with internal teams and external contacts to clarify billing, payment, and invoice questions
Requirements:
At least 2 years of experience in an accounting support or bookkeeping role
Practical knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Experience performing bank reconciliations with strong attention to detail
Proficiency using QuickBooks for financial data entry and record maintenance
Ability to code invoices accurately and manage a high volume of transactions
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a contract-based role
