We are looking for a dedicated Accounting Assistant to join our team on a contract basis in Amherst, New York. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the efficient operation of accounts payable processes, completing reconciliations, and supporting financial close activities. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong attention to detail.
Job Responsibility:
Process and verify invoices for accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate entry into the system
Prepare general ledger entries, including recurring and adjusting journal entries, for financial accuracy
Assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities by analyzing variances and preparing necessary schedules
Conduct detailed account reconciliations for accruals, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts
Maintain organized and compliant accounting records in alignment with company policies and audit standards
Generate and review financial reports, ensuring data integrity and adherence to reporting requirements
Support additional projects as assigned to meet organizational accounting goals
Requirements:
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
a bachelor’s degree is preferred
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in accounting or advanced accounting support roles
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including accounts payable, accruals, and debits/credits
Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP or similar platforms
Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and data analysis
Ability to work efficiently under deadlines in a dynamic environment
