Job Description:

Are you an accounting professional with a passion for precision and a talent for telling the story behind the numbers? Our client is looking for a versatile Accounting Analyst to join their finance team. In this role, you aren’t just recording transactions; you are a vital link between corporate accounting, construction development, and operational success. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in the details of full-cycle accounting but wants the variety of supporting major capital projects and process improvements. If you have a background in Property Management or Construction and are ready to take ownership of the ledger while providing actionable insights to leadership, we’d love to hear from you.

Job Responsibility:

  • Execute full-cycle accounting activities including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance for multiple entities
  • Monitor and reconcile development project budgets, highlighting variances and preparing monthly cost-recovery reports
  • Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including detailed variance and ratio analysis for the Board and funders
  • Act as the primary contact for external auditors, preparing year-end audit packages and filing all regulatory returns (HST/GST, payroll taxes)
  • Collaborate with department leads to prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, incorporating capital and operating expenditure projections
  • Identify and lead internal initiatives to enhance reporting, controls, and system integration within Yardi
  • Provide value-added financial support to property management and site staff to ensure operational alignment

Requirements:

  • University Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or accounting analysis, specifically in Real Estate, Construction, or Not-for-Profit environments
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • hands-on experience with Yardi software is a significant asset
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and relevant legislation (RTA, AODA, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • must be able to travel within the Greater Toronto Area as required
