This role is an important part of keeping our operations on track, especially when it comes to State and Federal accounting and managing grants.
Job Responsibility:
Apply in-depth knowledge of State and Federal governmental accounting principles, concepts, practices, and methods
Review and approve expenditures in the state accounting system WOLFS
Prepare federal and state expenditure reports and ensure compliance with grant regulations
Prepare budget information for grant applications, perform budget modifications, and track expenditures against grants and programs
Prepares and submits complex expense allocations for the department (ex, Motor Pool, Telecom, Central Mail, and IT)
Reconcile financial reports, revenue, cash receipts and budgets in WOLFS
Communicates with vendors and fiscal programs to resolve budgetary, invoice and voucher issues in a timely manner
Act as a subject matter expert, assisting accounting staff to resolve issues and errors
provide training on payment processing and fiscal duties
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Finance)
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Senior Accountant
OR 4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Finance) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Senior Accountant
Knowledge of principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques of State and Federal governmental accounting, fiscal controls and fiscal accounting
Knowledge of and ability to create and edit programs and use of office software programs such as Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Knowledge of State Accounting Systems (WOLFS)
Skills in time management and workload prioritization
Skills in analysis and decision-making
Skills in problem-solving
Ability to analyze financial reports and identify errors
Ability to train personnel in various programs and accounting systems
Ability to work effectively with staff in the Division, Department, and other state and federal agencies
