We are looking for an Accountant to support key accounting operations for a manufacturing organization in Dayton, Ohio. This contract position with permanent potential is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in staff accounting who can manage daily financial activities while helping maintain accurate records and timely reporting. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to core accounting functions, including reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and period-end close activities in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and record journal entries to ensure financial transactions are accurately reflected in the accounting records
Reconcile bank accounts on a regular basis and investigate variances to maintain clean and reliable cash records
Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, resolving discrepancies, and supporting overall financial accuracy
Assist with the preparation of balance sheet schedules and verify supporting documentation for key account balances
Contribute to month-end and year-end close processes by completing assigned accounting tasks within established deadlines
Support audit activities by gathering financial documentation, responding to requests, and helping ensure compliance with reporting standards
Handle state and sales tax-related accounting tasks, including reviewing tax data and assisting with required filings
Partner with internal teams to help ensure accounting information is complete, consistent, and aligned with operational activity
Requirements:
At least 1 year of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role
Working knowledge of sales tax processes, journal entries, and general ledger accounting
Experience supporting month-end close and year-end closing activities
Ability to prepare reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, with strong attention to detail
Familiarity with balance sheet account analysis and account supporting schedules
Exposure to audit support activities and the ability to organize financial documentation efficiently
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel in a detail-oriented environment
