Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Smithfield, Rhode Island. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in accounting processes, and supporting the overall efficiency of our construction-focused business. Job Responsibility:

Prepare and record journal entries for the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
Process accounts payable invoices, match them to purchase orders, and route for necessary approvals
Manage accounts receivable billing processes and apply customer payments in a timely manner
Conduct monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and credit cards to maintain financial integrity
Assist in developing and maintaining schedules for prepaid expenses and fixed assets while recording monthly amortizations and depreciation
Provide support for job costing and organizational tracking within a construction-focused environment
Help establish and maintain inventory accounting processes for materials used in projects
Collaborate on documentation required for audits or project close-outs
Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned to support the team

Requirements:

Solid experience with accounts payable processes and invoice management
Proficiency in general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation
Strong understanding of accounts receivable and customer payment applications
Demonstrated ability to perform accurate bank and credit card reconciliations
Familiarity with job costing and inventory accounting in a construction setting
Knowledge of prepaid schedules, fixed asset registers, and depreciation methods
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to adapt to various accounting and administrative tasks as needed
