Job Description

Looking for a German speaking Accountant for a contract role, based from London supporting the Germany market for leading media business. During a transition period and the establishment of a Shared Service Centre model, they are seeking an experienced Accountant to support the German market and ensure strong financial control and reporting. Initally 4 months, with strong potential for extension or temp to perm. Reporting to the Global Controller, this is a hands-on role responsible for supporting the full finance function for Germany, working closely with the Shared Service Centre in Germany.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage accounts payable processes including vendor setup, purchase order oversight, and liaison with the SSC in Cologne who process payments
  • Support the Client Finance Manager with accounts receivable review and monitoring
  • Set up and maintain projects within the timesheet system, ensuring accurate expense tracking and approvals
  • Lead month-end close activities including accruals, journal entries, fixed assets, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Manage all P&L areas excluding revenue, including operating expenses, overheads, and intercompany transactions
  • Own the local budgeting process, including payroll forecasting and ongoing forecast adjustments
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and support working capital management
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting within Microsoft Dynamics 365

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar accounting role
  • German speaking is an essential requirement of this role
  • Experience within a marketing, media, or agency environment advantageous but not essential
  • Strong understanding of month-end processes and financial controls
  • Comfortable working within an international reporting structure
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work independently in a transitioning environment
