We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Accountant to join our growing manufacturing organization. The successful candidate will have several years of experience in general accounting within Canada and will either hold a CPA designation or be actively pursuing it. In this role, the Accountant will play a key part in supporting the Finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring full compliance with Canadian accounting standards and internal control requirements relevant to a manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and ensure accuracy of financial data
Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes in accordance with established timelines
Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports to support business decision-making
Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts and cost of goods sold (COGS) to ensure accuracy and completeness
Assist with standard costing, variance analysis, and other production-related accounting activities
Collaborate with operations and production teams to ensure accurate costing and reporting of materials, labour, and overhead
Contribute to the budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes
Provide documentation and support during internal and external audits
Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial operations
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA designation) is required
2–5 years of experience in general accounting or financial reporting, preferably within a manufacturing environment
Solid understanding of Canadian GAAP (ASPE or IFRS)
Strong knowledge of costing methods related to finished goods and inventory
Hands-on experience with inventory accounting, costing, and variance analysis
Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines
