We are looking for a detail-oriented and committed Accountant to join our client's team in Maplewood, Minnesota. This long-term contract role is ideal for someone who thrives in a transactional accounting environment and is passionate about maintaining accurate records and managing donor contributions. The position offers an opportunity to work fully on-site and play a key role in handling high-volume transactions efficiently.
Job Responsibility:
Process and record daily deposits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Maintain donor files and ensure all records are accurate and well-organized
Handle gift processing tasks, including logging contributions and preparing donor acknowledgment letters
Track and process corporate matching gifts while ensuring compliance with documentation requirements
Manage a pledge receivable system, including creating invoices and monitoring payment schedules
Reconcile bank accounts regularly to ensure alignment with financial records
Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the general ledger
Generate reports on transaction volumes and donor activity to support financial decision-making
Collaborate with team members to address complex accounting issues and resolve discrepancies
Ensure adherence to accounting standards and organizational policies in all financial activities
Requirements:
Proven experience in transactional accounting, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
Proficiency in managing general ledger and preparing journal entries
Strong skills in bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records
Ability to handle high-volume transactions, with experience managing up to 700 entries per month
Familiarity with donor management systems, such as Salesforce, is preferred but not required
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
Strategic mindset with the ability to analyze and improve accounting processes
Excellent communication skills and willingness to ask questions to clarify complex issues
