We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Oakland, California. This Contract to permanent position is ideal for someone who is detail oriented, excels in managing financial operations, and ensures compliance with accounting standards. Job Responsibility:
Oversee accounts payable (AP) processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments
Manage accounts receivable (AR) functions, including invoicing and collections
Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger with precision
Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
Monitor and manage government grants, adhering to compliance requirements
Process employee timesheets and ensure payroll-related entries are accurate
Analyze financial data to support organizational decision-making
Assist in preparing financial reports and statements for internal and external stakeholders
Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit setting
Proficiency in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
Strong knowledge of general ledger maintenance and journal entry preparation
Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations
Familiarity with government grants and compliance requirements
Experience with Sage and Excel required
