Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Accountant to join our team in Minnetonka, Minnesota. This position offers a long-term contract opportunity within the reinsurance industry, requiring meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial operations and maintaining compliance with organizational standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Validate premium and loss calculations within the system to ensure accuracy across programs
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between system-generated results and manual processing outcomes
  • Collaborate with program accounting teams and IT personnel to support data validation efforts
  • Perform thorough analysis comparing system pre-production results to production outcomes
  • Review and confirm calculations align with manual billings prepared by program accountants
  • Conduct detailed reconciliations of financial data to maintain system accuracy
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and compliance
  • Provide detailed reports and documentation based on findings and analysis
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address issues and share updates
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and company policies in all accounting functions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in accounting or finance, demonstrating attention to detail, ideally within the insurance or reinsurance industry
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data reconciliation techniques
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement
  • Excellent communication abilities to interact across different organizational levels
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, journal entries, and bank reconciliations
  • Experience working within the insurance or reinsurance sector is highly preferred
