Job Description

The Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Maintains the general ledger and reconcile accounts
  • Prepare, and analyze profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, and balance sheets each month. Close the monthly books. Advise management of the financial results and recommendations
  • Mentor and Advise our Accounting Supervisor and oversee and check for accuracy the accounts receivable function, monthly, semi-monthly and weekly invoicing, and collections / AR Aging
  • Work with ownership on accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing
  • Supporting weekly payroll function by ensuring journal import from Paychex to QuickBooks is correct. Creation of various Journal Entries in QuickBooks to reconcile the weekly payrolls into the correct months
  • Work with management to set annual budgets
  • Work with management to benchmark salary levels and set guidelines for salary increases
  • Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
  • Support any auditing that occurs and prepare necessary documentation
  • Work closely with external CPA on tax preparation and tax strategies
  • Maintain compliance with accounting policies, regulations, and procedures
  • Ensure the company is compliant with state tax, excise tax, or any state fees due resulting from business activity in various states
  • Make tax and excise tax payments to various states when due
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Highly proficient with accounting software, including QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QuickBooks Enterprise, Bill.com, Avalara Tax System
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Three to five years of accounting experience required
