Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to contribute to diverse accounting operations in Baltimore, Maryland. This Contract-to-Permanent position offers the opportunity to lead accounting tasks, develop financial systems, and prepare detailed reports while collaborating with managers and officials on financial matters. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to manage specialized funds and budgets effectively.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee and review the work of accounting personnel to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures
  • Develop, modify, and monitor accounting systems for third-party programs to enhance operational efficiency
  • Prepare detailed financial reports for submission to funding sources and management
  • Audit and analyze accounts while compiling and comparing figures to ensure accuracy
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on accounting methodologies and procedures
  • Collaborate with program managers and government officials to address complex financial issues
  • Manage specialized funds, including discretionary and grant-related accounts, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance
  • Conduct cost studies and statistical analyses to support financial decision-making processes
  • Assist in budget preparation by compiling data, projecting expenditures, and monitoring allocations
  • Perform related accounting tasks as required to meet organizational objectives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of four years of accounting experience
  • Proficiency in corporate tax returns, journal entries, and general ledger management
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Strong knowledge of grant accounting and managing grants
  • Ability to compile and write accurate financial reports and statements
  • Skilled in payroll and budget allocation processes
  • Excellent communication and analytical abilities with a focus on detail-oriented work
