Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Accountant to join our team in Newport, Rhode Island. This is a long-term contract opportunity for an individual who excels in financial operations and accounting practices. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing accounts, tracking revenue, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Job Responsibility:

Process and monitor accounts payable transactions to ensure timely and accurate payments
Reconcile credit card accounts and bring them up to date, addressing a backlog of previous transactions
Collaborate on payroll system updates and assist with transitioning processes effectively
Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities and monitor revenue streams
Support the year-end closing process by preparing and analyzing financial data
Track earned revenue and ensure proper documentation for reporting purposes
Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the general ledger
Conduct bank reconciliations to verify account balances and resolve discrepancies

Requirements:

Proven experience in accounts payable processes and financial operations
Strong knowledge of general ledger management and journal entries
Proficiency in bank reconciliations and financial account balancing
Familiarity with year-end closing procedures and reporting standards
Ability to work with payroll systems and assist in process transitions
Experience in tracking revenue and fundraising activities
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in financial documentation
