We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in New Bedford, Massachusetts. This role involves managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in transactions, and supporting the company's accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and process accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payments
Oversee accounts receivable operations, including invoicing and collection activities
Prepare and record journal entries to maintain accurate financial records
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
Maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards
Support month-end and year-end financial close activities
Analyze financial data and prepare reports for internal use
Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information
Assist with audits by providing relevant documentation and addressing inquiries
Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements in all accounting practices
Requirements:
Proven experience in accounting, including accounts payable and receivable functions
Strong knowledge of general ledger processes and journal entry preparation
Proficiency in reconciling bank statements and resolving discrepancies
Familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting standards
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
Strong communication skills for collaborating with teams and external stakeholders
