The Accountant II provides financial and administrative support for the division, managing accounts payable and receivable transactions and ensuring accurate posting within the university’s financial system. The position serves as a resource to faculty and staff on accounting procedures, budget inquiries, and financial compliance. Responsibilities include financial management, budgeting, reporting, and monitoring multiple funding sources. The role oversees procurement, purchasing, travel, and asset management, ensuring cost efficiency and adherence to university and state policies. The Accountant II also supports sponsored research administration through post-award financial oversight and assists with HR-related functions, including payroll funding coordination and personnel expense review. Sound judgment and fiscal discretion are required when managing departmental funds.
Job Responsibility:
Provide financial and administrative support to the HR and Business Manager and assist with the college’s financial and HR operations

Requirements:
Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and two years of relevant experience
Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience
Nice to have:
Three years of experience in professional accounting/auditing work
Experience in grant and payroll administration
Knowledge of KSU's accounting and human resource systems (FIS & HRIS)
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
Experience working in computer-based accounting system
Familiarity with the State of Kansas and Kansas State University policies and procedures regarding grant expenditure and revenue
Excellent written and verbal communication
The ability to work within a high-volume, fast-paced setting is beneficial with strong attention to detail, organization and time-management skills preferred
