The Accountant II is responsible for assisting in the completion of assignments, including tax returns, tax support activities, and other accounting projects. They may also be asked to support other service lines like the administrative or CAS service lines with client or other projects. The Accountant II has all work reviewed prior to distribution and works under the supervision of a client manager and/or shareholder.
Job Responsibility:
Assists with individual tax return preparation including but not limited to printing organizers, rolling returns, completing organizers, scanning paperwork, entering data into the tax return software, following procedural processes, completion of the return, and performing a self-review of the work prior to sending for separate review
Assists with entity tax return preparation including but not limited to scanning support, working in accounting softwares, obtaining client signatures or documents, reviewing and adjusting client books, entering data into the tax return software, following procedural processes, completion of the return, and performing a self-review of the work prior to sending for separate review
Assists with the preparation, processing and distribution of 1099s for clients
Attends training and keeps up to date with industry, state and federal, and IRS changes
Complies with Federal and state tax and requirements, as well as complying with AICPA and MSCPA rules and regulations regarding CPAs and public firms
Builds relationships with colleagues and interacts with integrity and honesty
May help provide transactional support for CAS team as well as coordinate delivery of services
Performs other duties, responsibilities and activities as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university
Meets the Montana State Board of Public Accountant’s requirements to be eligible to sit for the CPA examination, preferred
Public accounting experience and/or internship experience preferred
Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the accounting field
Excellent computer skills, including spreadsheets
the ability to problem solve
attention to detail, and good organizational skills
Good written and oral communication skills
The ability to work as a team member and under close supervision of other staff
Must provide excellent and timely client/customer service at all times
Candidate must successfully pass background check
Nice to have:
Public accounting experience and/or internship experience preferred
