We are looking for an entry-level Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations for a retail organization in Whippany, New Jersey. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone with at least 1 year of experience who is eager to build hands-on expertise in purchasing, reconciliations, and accounting support. The role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records, coordinating vendor purchase activity, and helping ensure inventory and account data remain reliable.
Job Responsibility
Prepare and process vendor purchase orders in alignment with company guidelines and approval standards
Monitor open and completed purchase orders to ensure records are current, accurate, and properly documented
Review inventory data through routine checks and help identify discrepancies that require follow-up
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities by recording transactions and assisting with issue resolution
Perform account and bank reconciliations to verify balances and maintain dependable financial reporting
Enter accounting transactions accurately and maintain organized supporting documentation for audit readiness
Requirements
At least 1 year of accounting or finance-related experience
Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting processes
Experience performing bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
Ability to create and maintain accurate accounting entries and financial records
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage repetitive tasks accurately
Effective organizational and communication skills in a detail-focused work environment
