We are looking for an entry-level Accountant to join our team on a Contract basis in San Francisco, California. This role supports external client accounts and is ideal for someone who is comfortable working with day-to-day bookkeeping, transaction processing, and client communication. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to accurate financial reporting while handling sensitive payment activity with professionalism and care.
Job Responsibility:
Maintain bookkeeping records for a portfolio of external client accounts and keep financial information current and organized
Review, enter, and manage daily financial activity, including accounting entries across payables and receivables
Coordinate and process invoice payments with a high level of accuracy and discretion when handling confidential financial details
Assist with preparing financial statements and supporting schedules by compiling complete and reliable accounting data
Communicate directly with clients to request documentation, clarify account activity, and gather information needed for accurate reporting
Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and help resolve outstanding items promptly
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions by tracking transactions and ensuring records align with source documentation
Requirements:
Solid understanding of core accounting principles, including how debits and credits affect financial records
Hands-on experience using QuickBooks and Bill.com in a bookkeeping or accounting environment
Previous exposure to bookkeeping work involving external or client-facing accounts
Ability to manage responsibilities independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence interacting directly with clients
Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting entries, and reconciliation processes
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy when working with sensitive financial information
