Job Description

We are looking for an entry-level Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations for a Contract position based in New York, New York. This opportunity is well suited for someone who is eager to build hands-on experience in core accounting processes while contributing to accurate and timely financial reporting. The role will focus on transactional accounting, reconciliations, and maintaining organized records across payables, receivables, and general ledger activity.

Job Responsibility

  • Process vendor invoices, verify supporting documentation, and help ensure payments are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Assist with customer billing activity, record incoming payments, and maintain up-to-date accounts receivable records
  • Prepare bank reconciliations by comparing financial records to banking activity and researching discrepancies
  • Perform account reconciliations for balance sheet and other assigned accounts to support month-end accuracy
  • Post routine journal entries and maintain proper accounting documentation for daily transactions
  • Review financial data for inconsistencies, resolve basic accounting issues, and escalate more complex variances when needed
  • Organize accounting files and maintain clear records to support audits, reporting, and internal reviews

Requirements

  • Entry-level experience or academic background in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting principles
  • Familiarity with bank reconciliations and account reconciliation processes
  • Ability to prepare and record accounting entries with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and comfort working with accounting systems or financial software
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills in a detail-oriented office environment
