Alaska Addiction Rehabilitation Services is a dedicated non-profit organization providing compassionate care and support to individuals in our residential treatment programs. Our mission is to provide client-centered quality residential treatment services to adults living with substance use disorder, and co-occurring disorders across Alaska. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team. This role is crucial to maintaining the financial health and accountability of our organization. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial records, compliance with non-profit regulations, and the seamless management of daily accounting operations. AARS’ Bookkeeper/Accountant will provide direct bookkeeping to the Executive Director, be a full-charge bookkeeper with excellent computer and online competency. Will maintain accurate accounting records and prepares timely financial reports as required, assist Executive Director in preparing budgets and financial reports to grant agencies.

Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, general ledger and completes accounting cycles and provides timely financial statements for all AARS enterprises
  • Provide the following financial reports: Balance Sheet, Profit / Loss Report, Income Statement, Income and Expenses Summary and other financial reports requested by the Executive Director
  • Maintain and reconciles all checking accounts, providing balance information weekly to the Executive Director
  • Issue checks for accounts payable and is responsible in seeing that all bills are paid promptly and on time

Requirements

  • A.A. degree or business college diploma in accounting or office and bookkeeping practices
  • 3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Experienced with computer applications QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Dext
  • Appropriate computer skills
  • Current TB test (obtainable within the first 30 days of employment)
  • Current First Aid/CPR Cards (obtainable within the first 90 days of employment)
  • Initial COVID vaccination, provide vaccination card as proof
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License, with a good driving record and insurable
  • Must be able to pass the mandated criminal background check with an allowance for a variance
  • Has maintained sobriety for at least one (1) year if a recovered alcoholic/drug-abuser
