We are seeking a dedicated Accessibility Designer for a 6-month contract to ensure our digital products are inclusive, equitable, and compliant. You will bridge the gap between high-level design aesthetics and technical WCAG requirements, serving as the primary advocate for users with diverse abilities. Based in our Midtown Atlanta office, you will collaborate closely with UX researchers, UI designers, and front-end developers to bake accessibility into the product lifecycle from day one.
Job Responsibility:
Design Auditing: Review wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes to identify accessibility barriers related to color contrast, focus states, navigation order, and touch targets
Documentation: Create detailed accessibility specifications (annotations) for engineering teams, including ARIA labels, screen reader behavior, and keyboard interaction models
System Integration: Contribute to our Design System by creating and maintaining accessible components that meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA standards
Testing: Conduct audits using assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS, as well as manual testing (keyboard-only navigation)
Collaboration: Facilitate "inclusive design" workshops and provide real-time feedback during design sprints.
Requirements:
3+ years in UX/Product Design with a specialized focus on digital accessibility
Deep understanding of WCAG 2.1/2.2 guidelines and Section 508 compliance
Mastery of Figma (specifically for accessible handoff) and familiarity with accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, Stark, or Wave)
Ability to explain complex accessibility concepts to non-technical stakeholders with clarity and empathy
Ability to work onsite in Midtown Atlanta 4 days a week.
Nice to have:
IAAP Certification (CPACC or WAS)
Experience conducting usability sessions with participants from the disability community
Basic understanding of HTML/CSS to better collaborate with developers.
What we offer:
medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance
