Job Description

Installation Engineer. Location: Nationwide, UK. Contract: Permanent / Full-time. Department: Installations. Reports to: Installation Manager. We're looking for a skilled and motivated Access Control Installation Engineer to join our growing team at Hutchison Technologies. In this hands-on role, you'll install and commission access control systems — from turnstiles and car park barriers to maglocks, intercoms, and structured cabling — delivering high-quality solutions for customers across the UK.

Job Responsibility

  • Install access control systems including turnstiles, car park barriers, maglocks, and door entry solutions
  • Install structured cabling and network infrastructure to support access control systems
  • Commission and test installed systems to ensure full functionality
  • Work to consistently high technical standards on every site
  • Support the service team with fault-finding and remedial works when required
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Complete job forms, timesheets, mileage and expenses claims
  • Record stock usage and manage equipment/material returns
  • Maintain a professional, respectful presence on customer sites
  • Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues
  • Deliver excellent customer service throughout each installation
  • Take ownership of installation quality and customer satisfaction
  • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure clarity and confidence
  • Identify potential improvements or innovative solutions and escalate to your line manager
  • Take responsibility for mistakes and use them as opportunities to learn

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in an access control or security systems installation role
  • High level of technical competence in access control technologies

  • ECS/CSCS card
  • IPAF
  • PASMA
  • UKATA certification
  • SSSTS
  • Electrical qualification or a qualification in security/access control systems
  • Experience with specific access control platforms (e.g. Paxton, HID, Lenel, or similar)
