Job Description

We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented ACCA Trainee Accountant to join our remote finance and audit team. This role is suited to a South Africa–based candidate who is currently studying toward the ACCA qualification and is eager to gain practical experience across accounts preparation, audit, and financial reporting, while working fully remotely. The successful candidate will receive structured training, hands-on exposure, and ongoing support toward completing their ACCA qualification.

Job Responsibility

  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts and year-end financial statements
  • Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks, including posting journals, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with VAT returns and basic tax computations (training provided)
  • Maintain accurate working papers and supporting schedules
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and accounting standards
  • Assist with audit planning and fieldwork under the supervision of senior team members
  • Prepare audit working papers and schedules in line with audit methodology
  • Perform audit testing on key financial statement areas
  • Assist with stock counts, confirmations, and audit evidence gathering
  • Support the resolution of audit queries and follow-up items
  • Ensure audit documentation is completed accurately and on time

Requirements

  • South Africa–based candidate
  • Currently studying toward ACCA (Applied Knowledge or Applied Skills level)
  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
  • Reliable internet connection and suitable home working setup

Nice to have

  • Previous accounting or audit experience
  • Exposure to UK accounting or audit environments
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Strong Excel skills
