Job Description

The Academic Coordinator is a full-time faculty member who reports to an Associate Dean I and works closely with the relevant School and College academic advising and administrative staffs, and faculty to address a variety of academic and student issues. Walden University offers advanced degrees online to professionals whose work impacts others. Job Responsibility

  • Provide leadership for the PMHNP specialty
  • Course curriculum development, and other curricular activities as needed
  • Managing administrative functions appropriate to their assignments
  • Engages in faculty recruitment, orientation, development, mentoring, and evaluation
  • Facilitate student learning, resolution of student concerns, and facilitate high quality student learning activities and outcomes
  • Collaborate with faculty, peers, colleagues, and leadership to implement policies and procedures that support learning and success
  • Participation in university and school residencies where appropriate to a program
  • Engagement in scholarship Service on university and school committees and for school initiatives as needed
  • Availability to students outside the course discussion board and in addition to providing substantive feedback on assignments and postings
  • They may also facilitate school and university-wide discussions

Requirements

  • DNP or PhD in Nursing, Education or related discipline with an MSN in Nursing
  • Active Unrestricted APRN license
  • Ability to obtain Minnesota RN and APRN license within 60 days of hire
  • National certification as a PMHNP
  • Maintain licenses and all appropriate certifications
  • Three to five years teaching experience in a PMHNP program
  • Online teaching experience
  • Two to three years of full time clinical practice experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
  • Experience in PMHNP curriculum development that encompasses Competency Based Education utilizing the Backward Development Process
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience with monitoring faculty workload
  • Experience leading student retention efforts
  • Possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of nursing
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work remotely
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students in a distance learning environment
  • Ability to mentor and motivate adult learners in a distance-education environment
  • Ability to work with adult learners with variable skill levels, various learning styles as well as diverse cultural and professional backgrounds
