Job Description
As Academic Lead (First Nations Curriculum), you will provide cultural, academic and strategic leadership to embed First Nations knowledges across curriculum and learning design. Working as part of the Gulaay team, you will guide the implementation of the University’s First Nations Strategy, Indigenous Australian Content in Courses Policy, and Indigenous Cultural Competence Graduate Learning Outcomes. You will collaborate closely with academic staff, professional teams, communities, and external partners to strengthen curriculum, support course accreditation, and enhance culturally responsive teaching practice. The role also contributes to professional development, mentoring, scholarly engagement, and continuous improvement in learning and teaching aligned with the University’s strategic priorities.
Job Responsibility
Lead First Nations curriculum strategy and impact across the university
Build strong community, sector and regulatory partnerships
Influence teaching practice through Indigenous pedagogy and leadership
Provide cultural, academic and strategic leadership to embed First Nations knowledges across curriculum and learning design
Guide the implementation of the University’s First Nations Strategy, Indigenous Australian Content in Courses Policy, and Indigenous Cultural Competence Graduate Learning Outcomes
Collaborate closely with academic staff, professional teams, communities, and external partners to strengthen curriculum, support course accreditation, and enhance culturally responsive teaching practice

Requirements
Strong experience in First Nations curriculum, pedagogy or academic development
Deep understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing in learning contexts
Proven ability to guide, support and influence staff through respectful collaboration
Experience building trusted, reciprocal relationships with communities and partners
