The College of Arts & Sciences at Kansas State University seeks to hire multiple student-centered academic advisors to support student success, course selection, and academic/career goals for one or more departments in the college. We seek a dedicated student-centered individual to help prepare students for success by connecting them with educational experiences tailored to their specific goals and needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and a sincere desire to assist students with appropriate course selection and development of academic and career goals while supporting student development in self-understanding and agency. It is expected that advisors will possess extensive knowledge about the university academic programs, policies, procedures and student support services. Organizational and communication skills, timeliness, cooperation and collaboration in a team environment are essential. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Possess extensive knowledge about the university academic programs, policies, procedures and student support services
Requirements:
Requires a bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience
Education beyond the minimum degree requirement may count toward required experience if deemed relevant by the hiring manager
The degree requirement ensures candidates possess the foundational knowledge in educational theory, student development and institutional policy interpretation essential to effective academic advising
These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential learning inherent in a formal degree program
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
Nice to have:
3-6 years’ advising related experience
Master's degree in relevant field
Knowledge of NACADA Core Competencies and best practices in academic advising
Understanding and knowledge of the mission of the College of Arts & Sciences, its programs and the programs offered at Kansas State University
Familiarity or experience with first-year students
Experience with student success tools such as SSC Navigate, familiarity with Microsoft Office 365
Strong commitment to student success
Strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent time management and organization skills
