Job Description:

This role is a casual role and is for leave replacement only. As the Casual Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer, you will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, their families and carers in accessing care, as well as during their time in hospital.

Job Responsibility:

  • Visit wards and spending time with patients, their families and carers
  • Help patients access services both internally and externally to Austin Health
  • Contribute to project work with Ngarra Jarra and the broader team
  • Participate in opportunities to visit other hospitals and engage with community

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of community health, public health and Aboriginal health
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in the delivery of health programs or community services
  • Strong work ethic and ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
