As the Aboriginal Employment Advisor, you will provide hands-on, culturally appropriate support, coordinate site-based initiatives, and play a key role in implementing our Aboriginal Employment Strategy. This role ensures sustainable growth in Aboriginal employment and uplifts cultural capability within the organisation, enabling our teams to build stronger connections and understanding of Aboriginal culture. Reporting to the Principal - Aboriginal Employment, this position will be Site based on a 4D3X roster. You will be dedicated to one of MinRes's key sites, building strong relationships with the team and key stakeholders on site.
Job Responsibility:
Drive Aboriginal employee retention through wrap-around, culturally appropriate support and case management
Provide day-to-day, on-the-ground assistance to Aboriginal employees, People team, and site leaders, escalating issues when necessary
Coordinate and grow the site-based Aboriginal Employee Network
Identify and address health and wellbeing barriers, connecting employees with internal resources
Support the delivery of the Aboriginal Employment Strategy at site to grow employment, retention, and development opportunities for Aboriginal employees
Provide feedback on the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, making recommendations for improvement
Build and strengthen cultural capability among site leaders and the wider workforce
Ensure Aboriginal cultural observances are celebrated and acknowledged at site
Maintain accurate records and documentation to support program delivery and continuous improvement
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in workforce development, health, or people-related fields
Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, cultural safety, and culturally appropriate engagement practices
Proven ability to support personal wellbeing, professional development, and behaviour change
Current C-Class Driver's Licence and a Mental Health First Aid Training (Highly regarded)
Strong communication skills with ability to influence, manage conflict, and facilitate difficult conversations
Respectful, adaptable and empathetic approach to interactions
Commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion and cultural awareness across the workforce
