We are seeking a Site 400kV Senior Authorised Person to join us and ensure the safe operation, maintenance, and compliance of high-voltage electrical systems up to 400kV within the onshore renewables sector. Acting as a technical expert, you will provide guidance, operational support, and safety leadership, working closely with Operations and Project Management to implement robust HV safety processes. This is a critical role in maintaining operational excellence and promoting a culture of safety across all sites.
Job Responsibility:
Provide technical oversight of HV service activities, ensuring efficient planning, execution, and high-quality reporting
Support the Lead 400kV SAP with new site connections and first energisation, including site visits, technical documentation, and pre-energisation checks
Ensure compliance with technical requirements, escalate risks, and produce reports on asset condition and performance
Champion HSEQ standards on-site, driving safety improvements and collaborating with project teams for safe execution of HV work
Perform SAP duties up to 400kV, including outage planning, switching, and safety documentation
liaise with control centres and operators
Act as Authorising Engineer when required and mentor SAPs progressing toward authorisation
Lead customer engagement through meetings and communications, supporting commercial oversight, cost management, and budgeting
Requirements:
Hands-on experience as a Senior Authorised Person on 400kV systems, particularly in grid connections and commissioning
Significant practical experience performing SAP duties on 400kV systems
In-depth knowledge of HV safety standards and UK Electricity at Work Regulations
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage client relationships and lead technical discussions
Comfortable producing formal reports and documentation
Proven track record in HSEQ compliance and operational excellence
Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent preferred
