Job Description

Airswift is seeking a 2nd Officer to work on a Contractor position for 28 days (can be extended until May/2026) with an Oil and Gas Company.

Job Responsibility

  • Comply with and enforce the "Standing Orders of the Commander"
  • If the most senior officer, substitute for the First Mate in all legal absences
  • During embarkation, assist in verifying crew documentation, observing current legislation
  • Conduct a safe navigation watch, using available equipment and informing the Commander of any abnormality that may affect navigation safety
  • Ensure that all relevant information has been mentioned during the watch handover
  • Monitor non-conformities within the management system
  • Monitor onboard activities, ensuring compliance with the group's safety policy
  • In the absence or impediment of the Safety Technician onboard, ensure that safety tools are implemented, such as Work Permit, Tool Box Talk, APR, etc. For this, request assistance from the First Mate / Commander whenever necessary. Keep the Navigation Log, Azimuth Book, and other documents required by current regulations
  • Plan a crossing and determine the vessel's position
  • Assist in vessel maneuvers when requested by the Captain
  • Be responsible for all emergency signaling equipment, such as flags, pyrotechnic devices, lamps, lanterns, etc., in addition to navigation equipment
  • Identify and respond to a distress signal, immediately reporting it to the Captain
