Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and supportive Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil. This role is focused on helping the pupil remain engaged with classroom activities and supporting the development of social interaction skills. There are no significant behavioural challenges; the emphasis is on encouragement, guidance, and consistent support.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil throughout the school day
  • Encourage and maintain the pupil’s engagement with learning activities
  • Support the development of social skills and appropriate classroom interactions
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and additional Teaching Assistant
  • Assist in adapting learning materials and activities where appropriate
  • Monitor and provide feedback on the pupil’s progress and wellbeing
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with primary-aged children (preferred)
  • Patient, empathetic, and encouraging approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Understanding of supporting pupils with additional learning needs (desirable)
